Freedom to Marry

The US Supreme Court will hear arguments in a
‘mega-case’ surrounding same-sex marriage bans
tomorrow.
The court is set to begin hearing oral arguments
in a ground-breaking case concerning marriage
bans in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee,
and Kentucky, in the first large-scale Supreme
Court action on the issue since a ruling in favour
of equality during 2013’s United States v Windsor.
As the nine Supreme Court justices previously
tipped in favour of equality on the Windsor case –
striking down parts of the federal Defense of
Marriage Act – advocates are tentatively hopeful
that the upcoming battle could bring same-sex
marriage to all 50 states.
The court has allotted two and a half hours of
argument to the case – with a tightly-controlled
time limit for arguments from each state, as well as
lawyers representing 12 same-sex couples and two
widowers.
As the court is attempting to resolve a ‘circuit split’
– where some lower courts have found in favour of
same-sex marriage and some against – the
eventual ruling is likely to be decisive, whether in
favour or against allowing states to ban same-sex
marriage.
A ruling is expected by the summer.
Ahead of the case, hundreds of amicus briefs have
been filed by concerned parties – with President
Obama’s administration urging the court to strike
down bans on same-sex marriage , while
Republicans in Congress urged the court not to.
However, in a sure-fire sign that Republicans don’t
want to be seen on the wrong side of history in the
case, just 57 out of the party’s 299 Members of
Congress signed the brief, which argues states
should be allowed to decide if gays are allowed to
marry.
In contrast, a brief from the Democrats in favour of
equality was signed by 211 of the party’s 232
Members of Congress.
A number of leading employers have also urged the
court to strike down the ban, with a number of
corporate rivals have put their differences aside to
sign a joint legal brief.
Bitter rivals – including Microsoft, Apple and
Google, Twitter and Facebook, eBay and Amazon –
put their differences aside to sign on to the brief.
Other iconic businesses to support same-sex
marriage include Walt Disney, Coca-Cola, Nike, Visa,
American Apparel, Verison, General Mills, Barnes &
Noble.

Coming out of the closet!

So, Here's my next topic "COMING OUT". Despite burgeoning Indian LGBT communities and
movements (in urban areas), homosexuality and
homosexual intercourse remain illegal in India
(under the controversial section 377 of the Indian
Penal Code). Being gay in India still entails being a
target for mental, verbal, physical and sexual
violence, and coming out still means risking
alienation from one's conservative family and
friends. As a result, anonymous online spaces are
the only forum some have to "come out." “In the past, if somebody realized that they were gay and they wanted to connect with other gay people about those experiences, then there weren’t a lot of places to do that. Nowadays, if somebody has a question about their sexuality and wants to talk to other gay people, they can do that from home. They can be anonymous, they don’t have to say what their real name is, they don’t have to put their picture online, they don’t have to tell people where they live, and they can have that conversation and work through a lot of the questions they have.”
That’s especially important for LGBT people in small towns or conservative parts of the country, where they may not know any other openly gay person. Interacting online with other LGBT people demonstrates that it’s not abnormal or exceedingly rare to be gay or bisexual or transgender.

ESPECIALLY TEENS  OR YOUNG ADULTS!
AS a young growing up  bisexual, I too, faced several difficulties including discrimination and social ostracism.
Many LGBT teens end up disconnected from their homes, schools and communities! According to a Research, 30% of LGBT youth reported suffering physical violence at the hands of a family member after coming out. As a result of lack of acceptance or abuse at the home, most of the LGBT teens are afraid to "COME OUT" and they start using illegal drugs, they get depressed and try to commit suicide! This could only be stopped, when our parents are gonna support us..

WHAT MAKES ME REALLY SAD..
What really makes me sad is that,  MOST of the parents don't support their LGBT children... According to a Research, 30% of LGBT youth reported suffering physical violence at the hands of a family member after "COMING OUT". : (

WHAT PARENTS NEED TO UNDERSTAND...!
Firstly, a parent must need to accept the fact that, if your child is a lesbian, Gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) then there's nothing wrong with it... Homosexuality is not something an individual chooses, it's something an individual is born with.. How it is wrong?
A parent must ask his/her child first before telling anyone else about their LGBT status. If you, as a parent, need to talk about this issue for your own mental health.. But, don’t betray your child’s trust – it is most important to be respectful of what your child wants!
All youth – whether LGBT or not – deserve to feel safe and accepted..

P. S -- We all are different in each and every way and that is what makes us beautiful and special... ;)

Homosexuality a disease?

So here, I am writing a blog about (LGBTS).. Firstly I would like to say something about me I am a bisexual boy age 21 years... I just came out to my parents, friends and everyone and they just peacefully accepted me.. I came out to everyone though an fb status and believe me their response to my status was just an unexpected one...  They were just so happy.. And at the same time I was feeling like a bird who's now ready to fly... Though my loved ones supported me, there were some people who just kicked me out of their life... I even got a message from an asshole written "homosexuality is a disease and bro I will pray to God that you will get cured one day.. YOU'RE a beautiful human being.. Too beautiful to suffer this disease" though he was a bloody homophobic person, I didn't reply to his message.. But have you ever noticed how "HOMOSEXUALITY" ends with "ALITY" just like "REALITY" then "ACTUALITY". Also "PERSONALITY" I don't know what this suffix "ALITY" means, but I am  guessing it has something with a way of life or a  way of living.... Whatever...  Now have you ever noticed how "HOMOPHOBIA" ends with "PHOBIA", which is an anxiety "DISORDER" characterised by "EXTREME" or "IRRATIONAL" fear of "SIMPLE" things or social situations... So from all this I simply wana show up that, we the LGBT people are perfectly fine... And those homophobic assholes need some serious medical attention ;) ... I rest my today's case here... Love LGBT and support equality...  Good Night...
